Prickly sedge (Carex stipata, Cyperaceae) is a tuft-forming, grass-like perennial found across Canada, the United States, and parts of east Asia including China, Korea, Japan, and Far Eastern Russia. It reaches 2 to 3 feet tall with coarse, elongate leaves and an inflorescence spike bearing clusters of brown seed capsules high on each stem.

Prickly sedge is a wetland obligate, found in woodland swales, floodplains, marshes, water meadows, ditches, and along streams and ponds. Detailed cultural requirements, pest and disease associations, and cultivar information have not been documented. The profile is a stub awaiting enrichment.
