Fargesia rufa (Poaceae) is a clumping bamboo from western China (Sichuan and Gansu provinces), reaching 6 to 10 feet tall and wide. It is an evergreen grass with winter interest and a non-invasive, clump-forming growth habit unlike running bamboo species.

Fargesia rufa grows in part shade with moderate water needs, hardy in Zones 5 to 8. It is resistant to deer and drought tolerant once established. Maintenance is low. It rarely flowers. No pest or disease issues and no cultivars are documented.
