Hybrid daylilies (Hemerocallis hybrids, Asphodelaceae) are the most widely grown form, with over 80,000 registered cultivars spanning every flower color except true blue and pure white. Each flower lasts just one day, but well-branched scapes produce blooms over weeks to months.

Daylilies grow in sun to part shade on adaptable soils and are among the most low-maintenance perennials. Daylily rust and daylily gall midge are the primary disease and pest concerns. Cultivars span all bloom seasons and include 'Happy Returns' (reblooming yellow), 'Pardon Me' (red miniature), 'Double Dream,' and 'Night Beacon.' The plant is toxic to cats.
