Pennisetum orientale (Poaceae) is a clumping ornamental grass reaching 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. It produces fluffy, pink to white flower spikes above a mound of narrow foliage from midsummer through fall.

Oriental fountain grass grows best in full sun on well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant once established and generally problem-free. The soft, feathery inflorescences are smaller and more refined than those of P. alopecuroides. Hardy in Zones 6a to 9b.
