Meadow sage (also spelled Salvia sylvestris) is a hardy herbaceous perennial in the mint family with attractive blue to violet flowers borne on tall spikes. The plant forms dense clumps and blooms mid- to late summer. It is native to central and southeastern Europe.

Meadow sage is extremely cold-hardy and thrives in full sun to light shade with well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established and attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Several cultivars are available, often selected for compact growth or extended bloom season.
