Stonecrop is a low-growing, mat-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family native to Europe. It typically reaches 4-6 inches tall and spreads via stolons and offsets, creating dense mats of gray-green to reddish leaves. The plant produces small, star-shaped yellow flowers in summer.

Stonecrop is extremely drought-tolerant once established and thrives in full sun to light shade with sandy or rocky, well-drained soil. Hardy to USDA zones 4-9, it is an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, and containers. It requires minimal water and maintenance and spreads readily.
