Showy stonecrop, also called autumn joy, is a clump-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family reaching 18-24 inches tall with gray-green leaves and flat-topped flower clusters. The flowers are pink when they open in late summer, gradually darkening to red, then rust-brown, persisting into winter.

Showy stonecrop is extremely drought-tolerant once established and thrives in full sun to light shade with well-drained soil. Hardy to USDA zones 3-10, it is cold-hardy and long-lived. The plant attracts butterflies and other pollinators; spent flower heads provide winter interest.
