Canada goldenrod is a robust, clump-forming perennial in the Asteraceae family native to eastern North America. Growing 2-5 feet tall, it produces narrow, linear leaves and terminal panicles of small, golden-yellow flowers blooming in late summer to fall. The plant spreads via rhizomes and self-seeding.

Canada goldenrod thrives in full sun to light shade and tolerates diverse soil and moisture conditions, including poor, dry soils. Hardy to USDA zones 2-8, it is very hardy and fast-growing. Despite folk belief, goldenrod does not cause pollen allergies; it attracts numerous butterflies and late-season pollinators.
