Spreading Snowberry

Symphoricarpos mollis

Caprifoliaceae · broadleaf · native

Spreading snowberry is a low, procumbent deciduous groundcover reaching only 18 inches in height, native from British Columbia south to southern California, including the Coast Ranges, and east to northern Idaho. The plant spreads by rooting wherever nodes touch soil, eventually forming a dense carpet.

Spreading snowberry thrives in sun to part shade and adapts to moist or dry soils; it is extremely adaptable and low-maintenance. Once established, the plant needs no supplemental water or pruning. It is outstanding as a groundcover, particularly in areas too wet or shady for typical groundcover plants.
